Rodolfo Arruabarrena has not yet been officially presented as the coach of Boca, but it seems he has already started making significant decisions. One of the first involves Ander Herrera, who will not be considered by the new coaching staff and is on the verge of leaving the club.
According to reports, the Spanish midfielder and the management have reached an agreement to terminate the contract early that bound them until December of this year. The departure would occur on good terms and could be formalized in the coming hours.
The decision aligns with one of the main ideas that Vasco conveyed during discussions with Juan Román Riquelme. The coach intends to work with a smaller squad and with players who can be consistently available throughout the season.

In this context, Herrera's recent injury history proved to be decisive. Since his arrival at the club, the former Athletic Bilbao and Manchester United player has suffered from recurrent physical issues that prevented him from maintaining continuity, despite being a valued asset by various coaches whenever he was fit to play.
The management had hoped for his recovery when they decided to extend his contract at the beginning of the year, but the situation did not improve and the change of cycle hastened his departure. In this framework, both the player and the club understood the reasons for the decision, which is why the negotiations progressed quickly.
