In recent days, contacts between the forward and Canalla's management have intensified, and the agreement was finally reached in Funes, Santa Fe, thus officially confirming his long-awaited return to Argentine soccer.

The 37-year-old forward will play in the Club World Cup with Benfica and will then travel to Rosario to be presented as a new signing. His contract with the Portuguese club ends on June 30, at which point he will be free to return to Central.

According to various sources, Di María will sign a one-year contract and will wear the number 11 jersey, with the possibility of extending it for one more season. After his arrival in the country, he will take a week off before joining the team's training sessions.

With this confirmation, Fideo becomes the fourth world champion to return to Argentine soccer after Qatar 2022, following the returns of Germán Pezzella, Gonzalo Montiel, and Marcos Acuña to River.

The former Argentina National Team forward played 39 matches and scored six goals for the club he loves before being transferred to Benfica in 2007. Since his last match at the Gigante de Arroyito, 18 years have passed, a long wait that will soon come to an end.

Regarding his official return, if no setbacks arise, it could take place in the first matchday of the Torneo Clausura of the Liga Profesional, when Rosario Central faces Godoy Cruz at the Gigante de Arroyito.
