Franco Colapinto's continuity in Formula 1 is one step away from being confirmed. According to the French outlet L’Auto-Journal, the Argentine driver will be a starter at Alpine starting from the 2026 season and, in addition, revealed a specific detail that would definitively seal the deal: a trip by Flavio Briatore to Buenos Aires.
The main advisor and key figure in the team's sporting decisions, was in the country two weeks ago to hold meetings with the 22-year-old's sponsors. During his visit, the historic Italian executive reportedly finalized the financial and sponsorship details that will support the driver from Pilar's incorporation into the French team.
This trip took place immediately after the United States Grand Prix in Austin, where Colapinto was involved in a controversial situation: he disobeyed a team order and overtook Pierre Gasly to finish in 17th place, an action for which he later issued a public apology.
According to the publication, the executive met with representatives of the main companies supporting the Argentine, including Mercado Libre, which already has a prominent presence on Alpine's single-seater and would play a central role in the 2026 sponsorship structure.
