The agreement was closed for an amount close to 7.5 million pounds sterling (just over 10 million dollars). The Argentine will now sign a contract for two seasons, until mid-2028, with the possibility of extending it for one more year.
The arrival of the 33-year-old from Mar del Plata responds to a specific search by Chelsea, which had been analyzing the incorporation of an experienced goalkeeper due to the doubts raised by the performance of Spanish Robert Sánchez. In that context, Martínez's name gained traction and ended up becoming the option chosen by the Blues' management.
