Buenos Aires: they stole his girlfriend, he ran over the thieves, and one died instantly
Insecurity is devouring the west of Greater Buenos Aires while Axel Kicillof's administration remains absent
Urban violence in the province of Buenos Aires wrote a new tragic chapter on Tuesday night, when a robbery in Ituzaingó ended with the death of a criminal after a chase that exposes the total absence of the State in Greater Buenos Aires. In an episode that reflects the growing social frustration with everyday crime, a 21-year-old decided to take matters into his own hands after a group of motorcycle thieves robbed his girlfriend at gunpoint.
It all began at the intersection of Aguaribay and Haiti streets, in Ituzaingó, where the victim was with her partner and some friends. In seconds, four armed suspects, on two motorcycles, burst onto the scene. One of them got off with a firearm and stripped the young woman of her belongings.

Far from giving up, the victim's boyfriend got into his red Peugeot 207 accompanied by a friend and began an intense chase through the suburban streets. The pursuit focused on one of the motorcycles, on which the armed thief and his accomplice were escaping.
The chase ended in the neighboring town of Merlo, at the intersection of San Antonio and Palmar, where the driver managed to hit the criminals. One of them died instantly from a head trauma, while the other was immobilized on the public road with a fracture in his left leg. He was taken to Eva Perón Hospital under police custody.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed the death of the suspect. The young woman who had been robbed also appeared at the scene and recognized the deceased as one of the perpetrators of the robbery. Meanwhile, the motorcycle they were escaping on was also reported as stolen: it had been reported at the Merlo police station after being taken at the corner of Araoz and Formosa.

The criminal record of the strikers leaves no doubt. According to police sources, the deceased had a record for attempted aggravated robbery dated July 2021, a case processed in the UFIJ No. 7 of Morón. His accomplice, a minor, also had a record: he had been apprehended for motorcycle theft in 2023 and again in August 2024 for an armed robbery.
