Samsung introduced the W27, a luxury foldable phone that is based on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and features premium finishes. The device is aimed at the Chinese market and stands out for its golden structure, color options, and a price higher than that of the iPhone Duo versions available in that country.
Regarding hardware, the Samsung W27 retains the main features of the original model, from its OLED screens to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor. However, it only offers configurations with 16 GB of RAM and storage of 512 GB or 1 TB.
The new foldable from Samsung opts for a more exclusive aesthetic. The frame and camera module have a golden finish, while the structure incorporates a different texture. The back can be chosen in two colors: dark red or dark blue.
The device maintains Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 rear protection and an IP48 certification. It also retains the dimensions of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, with a thickness of 8.9 millimeters when folded and a weight of 215 grams.
In terms of technical specifications, the Samsung W27 shares the core specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Among its main features are:
Internal display: 8-inch foldable OLED.
External display: 6.5-inch OLED.
Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy.
Battery: 5,000 mAh.
Selfie cameras: two 10-megapixel sensors, one on each screen.
The most significant difference compared to the storage options of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra lies in the memory. The W27 is marketed with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB or 1 TB of space, without the 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB variants offered by the other model.
The price is one of the most striking aspects of the new foldable. Samsung set the following recommended prices for the Chinese market:
Samsung W27 with 16 GB and 512 GB: 18,999 yuan, equivalent to about US$2,852.
Samsung W27 with 16 GB and 1 TB: 21,999 yuan, equivalent to about US$3,303.
The 1 TB version of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra has a recommended price of US$2,700 in the United States. Additionally, the W27 exceeds the prices of the 256 GB and 512 GB versions of the iPhone Duo in China, which cost approximately US$2,401 and US$2,702, respectively.
The Samsung W27 package includes several accessories: a Kevlar magnetic case, a 45 W charger, and a USB-C cable. These items accompany the device and complete the premium offering of the foldable.
