This is a work of the Procrea plan presented by the former Kirchnerist president in 2021.
A housing complex under the Procrea plan inaugurated in 2021 by then-president Alberto Fernández suffered a shocking collapse this Tuesday in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Parque Patricios.
This is the same work that began in 2016 during the government of the corrupt and convicted Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, and which was presented by Kirchnerism as an emblem of "state access to housing”.
The collapse occurred during the early morning, around 04:30, when the roof of the parking lot gave way to the underground garage in the complex located at 907 Mafalda Street, between Ástor Piazzolla and Suárez Avenue, behind the court of Club Atlético Huracán.
The collapse
The structure collapsed on dozens of vehicles, generating scenes of tension and forcing more than 300 residents to evacuate
.
The development is part of the neighborhood called Estación Buenos Aires, promoted by the Procrea program, which provided housing through a lottery system for the National Lottery among those who registered previously.
The inauguration ceremony of Kirchnerism
In December 2021, Fernández led the official ceremony of handing over the departments, accompanied by the then Minister of Territorial Development and Habitat, Jorge
Ferraresi.
During that inauguration, with the buildings in the background and numerous people waiting for the keys to their home, the then president defended the role of the State in housing policy and criticized the real estate market.
“The State is not there to do business, it is to promote rights, to satisfy rights, to give rights,” he said at that event, despite the numerous causes of corruption that
linked his entire government.
In addition, he stressed that the objective was “to return to the usual Procrea, which provided access to credit for workers who could afford it without it becoming a problem”, referring to the UVA system implemented during Mauricio Macri's administration.
This Tuesday, however, the scenario was completely different. The collapse of the parking lot caused the structure to collapse on at least 66 cars and generated a massive evacuation. Although there were no injuries or missing persons, the City Police deployed an operation with search dogs by protocol, while firefighters continued to work on
the spot. The collapse.
The testimonies of the neighbors reflected the situation. “It was surprising because he grabbed us for the middle of the night, we went out with what we were wearing and the pets,” said a young man who lives in the complex. “The neighbors were helping us, they started shouting 'there is a danger of collapse'. I live in the front of the building, I don't see the yard, but when I went down, I saw that there was a collapse,” he added
.
Another neighbor described the material losses suffered: “My car looked like a wafer,” he lamented in a dialogue with Arriba Argentinos (eltrece). “Until a technical expertise is done and safety is determined, we are still on the street waiting for a technical guarantee to look for things,” the same young man explained
