Businessman Eduardo Costantini: “I voted for Milei and I would vote for him again, because if he leaves, what's next?”

In an economic scenario with notable signs of recovery, businessman Eduardo Costantini once again expressed his support for the government of Javier Milei, while warning of the lack of clear alternatives in the political system. During his participation in ExpoEFI 2026, within the framework of the Argentine Economic Congress, he left strong definitions about the present and the future of the country. “I applaud a lot of things that Milei did. I voted for him and maybe I would vote for him again, although I don't agree with all his measures or his profile. But if Milei leaves, what comes? That's the problem,” said Costantini, stating a position that reflects the support of key business sectors for the current administration.

Beyond his support, the businessman raised the need to consolidate a more solid political system: “a political system that promotes governance, the consistency of governance where politics plays less role and that the country learns to live with a succession of different presidents, with political alternation, which is the basis of democracy”.

In that sense, he considered that last year's elections “were extremely traumatic”, which had a direct impact on the economy: “responsible for a significant part of the decline in consumption and the slowdown in the economy.” However, he recognized positive signs at present: “Although the economy is growing, the increase in rates it produced brought an enormous rise in default and a reduction in credit, with a very serious impact on society

.”

Costantini also pointed to the historical fluctuations of Argentine economic policy: “In general, you vote well in Argentina, but sometimes one type of economic policy turns out badly and the voter chooses another alternative and goes to the other extreme because there is no more moderate candidate”, and he remarked that “political competition is fine, but it must be based on a framework in which the country has predictability”.

Regarding the country's structural challenge, he was categorical: “Argentina is a small country that didn't play by international rules. That is why we have lost many decades. Necessarily, Argentina has to go through a long period of certain sacrifice. We can't be successful, we have some relative inefficiencies that are complex and are going to take a long time.

”

In terms of inflation, he avoided making closed forecasts but slipped a trend: “It's difficult to do futurology”, although he estimated that the monthly index could fall “from three and a peak to two and a peak”.

Regarding the external front, he valued the accumulation of reserves and the role of the Central Bank: “I would like the Central Bank to continue buying dollars and that the good time we are having in the external sector can be extended.” In addition, he noted that “although the second semester is seasonally lower, companies and provinces can continue to issue”, which could become “a source of income for dollars so that the Central Bank can continue to buy reserves for the coming year

.”

Looking ahead to the medium term, he warned that in 2027 Argentina will face two central challenges: foreign debt maturities and the electoral front. “I trust that there will be more dialogue so that the proposals are not binary and that, on the other hand, Argentina can return to the international market,”

he said.

Finally, he stressed that the process of transformation promoted by the Government requires the consolidation of a “virtuous circle” to stabilize the economy. In this context, he explained that the recovery of confidence could drive an increase in deposits in the financial system, expanding the availability of dollars both to the State - “of a reasonable size” - and to the private sector

As he explained, this process would contribute to reducing the cost of capital, strengthening the monetary base and, ultimately, improving the country's structural conditions. All of this, he concluded, will only be possible if sustained State policies are consolidated over time: strong currency, independent Central Bank, compliance with commitments and fiscal balance, fundamental pillars for reducing country risk and leading Argentina to definitive stability.
