This week, the arrival of a mass of air from Antarctica will affect much of Argentine territory and cause a marked drop in temperatures. The National Meteorological Service anticipates days with frosts in several parts of the country, with temperatures that could be up to 10 degrees below what is usual for this time of year.
In addition to the intense cold, southwest winds are expected to make the wind chill even lower. In the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, the minimum temperatures will hover around 2 degrees, while the maximums will hardly exceed 14 degrees in the coming days.
The strongest moment of this polar advance will be felt between Wednesday, July 1, and Thursday, July 2. In some areas of the province of Buenos Aires, especially in rural or open zones, temperatures could drop below 0 degrees.
Snow in the City?

Despite the intense cold, the chances of snow in the City of Buenos Aires and in the AMBA are very low. According to meteorological models, not all the necessary conditions for this phenomenon are met, which requires not only low temperatures but also high humidity and precipitation.
Thus, the AMBA will experience one of the coldest weeks of 2026, with frosty mornings and a wind chill that will feel even harsher due to the wind. Residents of Buenos Aires and the province will need to prepare for very cold days in the early days of July.
On the other hand, in other regions of southeastern Buenos Aires, there are greater chances of seeing light snowfalls. Meteored specialists indicate that between Wednesday and Thursday, this phenomenon could be recorded in areas close to the Atlantic coast and in some mountainous zones, where cold, humidity, and some precipitation would coincide.
