Luis Caputo spoke at the Economic Outlook Series of the Bolsa de Comercio de Córdoba, in the final stretch toward the upcoming legislative elections on October 26. Before the start of the talk, he spoke to the local press at the entrance of the building and addressed the evolution of the dollar in the coming weeks. The official sought to reassure the markets and savers, and he confirmed that the exchange rate policy will not undergo changes after the elections.
"After the elections, everything will remain the same," said the minister to the media, upon entering the Córdoba Stock Exchange. He added that "nothing will happen with the dollar" and that the exchange rate "will remain within the bands" set by the government's exchange policy. Caputo arrived in Córdoba to support Gonzalo Roca, candidate of La Libertad Avanza, and to present macroeconomic guidelines to local business leaders.
Regarding the recent volatility, he stated: "The market and people fear that the elections will go badly," when asked about the rise in the exchange rate in recent weeks. In this regard, he affirmed that "our program continues" and that the recent agreements with the United States support the official roadmap. The visit adds to the recent activities of the President and national ministers in Córdoba, in the final stretch before the electoral ban.
“Después de las elecciones va a seguir todo igual”, sostuvo el ministro
Political and economic messages
Caputo also addressed the electoral scenario and called for support to be concentrated on the ruling party to accelerate economic reforms. "The vote that is not Kirchnerist, and that doesn't go to La Libertad Avanza, honestly is a pity," he said when asked about the provincial race. He argued that a legislative majority would facilitate the continuity of the program and provide fiscal and exchange rate predictability in the coming months.
In this context, the minister defended the official course with a political statement before the audience at the Córdoba Stock Exchange auditorium. "We have come to do what no one dared to do," he said. "We do not have a power project, but a country project," in which the priority is to maintain the economic program without changes.
The activity is part of a national agenda that days earlier included visits by the President, Patricia Bullrich and Federico Sturzenegger to the province. During his time in Córdoba, Caputo supported the list headed by Gonzalo Roca for La Libertad Avanza for the legislative elections on October 26. From the stage of the Economic Outlook Series, he reiterated that the exchange rate will remain stable and that the economic program will continue after the elections.
