Caputo lashed out against the political establishment and called for support from the business sector

In a meeting with leaders from the real estate sector, the Minister of Economy reiterated criticism of the opposition

The Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo,  renewed his criticism of Congress and called on the private sector to support the national government's economic policies.

The official addressed real estate entrepreneurs in particular during the 15th edition of the Real Estate Development and Investment Congress, where he  defended the economic direction promoted by Javier Milei's administration and questioned the opposition for obstructing it.

Caputo emphasized that the current administration's  objective is to maintain fiscal balance and move forward with a deregulation and tax reduction process.

"We have to keep lowering taxes, deregulating, and you have to keep pushing back against governors and mayors, grow the capital market. Macro stability is essential because it generates long-term investment.", he stated before an audience made up of developers and entrepreneurs from the sector.

During his presentation, the minister reviewed the measures implemented in the 18 months of Milei's government and blamed Kirchnerismfor the economic deterioration of recent decades.  "Their 16 years can only be compared to the worst country in Africa, and I think not even then, it was a total disaster.", he said.

Regarding legislative dynamics, Caputo  criticized the approval of projects promoted by the opposition and later vetoed by the president. In his view, these initiatives "negatively impact fiscal balance" and are part of a strategy to destabilize. "Argentina is doing well, and since they can't bring it down any other way, they saw that fiscal balance is essential, so they vote for 12 laws to destroy it.", he argued.

The official insisted that "a Congress more in line with what we want to do is required" in order to move forward with structural reforms.  "In the Economy Ministry we're studying measures to boost this sector and others, but laws are needed and with this Congress it's not possible.", he stated, while calling to "put an end to the past and give our children the future that was denied to us.".

Caputo  also addressed debt policy, assuring that the government has settled obligations with the market and multilateral organizations, which limited the accumulation of reserves.

In his message to entrepreneurs, the head of the Treasury called for a more active commitment from the private sector to sustain the process of change. "The biggest problem is convincing you (the private sector) who have the capital, who can drive development, move the economy, because this time it's different.", he stressed.

The minister reaffirmed that the Executive will continue with market opening and competition, with the goal of improving access to goods and services. "There's an opportunity here to grow this country like never before in history, these are no longer promises, these are results.", he concluded.
