Caputo will hold a meeting with the IMF and will speak before investors in the United States.
The official will seek to convince investors that the global economic shift won't impact the country's direction
The Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, will arrive this Tuesday in Washington to hold key meetings with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, and G20 representatives, at a time of global economic tension triggered by Donald Trump's new geopolitical agenda.
A trip conditioned by the international situation
Argentina, which recently received a disbursement of 12 billion dollars from the IMF under a new Extended Fund Facility agreement, seeks to reaffirm the viability of its economic plan and dispel doubts in light of the impact of recent global movements.
This disbursement allowed the government to lift the currency controls without exchange rate crises, strengthening the Central Bank's reserves.
However, the global context became more challenging since April 2, when Trump announced reciprocal tariffs for all exports arriving in the United States, affecting both historical allies like Europe and adversaries like China.
Caputo will defend the adjustment to the State and seek investors' support
During his stay, Caputo will explain the third phase of the Argentine economic program, based on:
- Fiscal balance
- Zero monetary issuance
- Sustained decline in inflation

The Argentine official will seek to convince private investors that the global economic shift will not impact the country's course, although he acknowledges that international volatility hinders the inflow of capital to emerging markets.
In addition to his meetings with Kristalina Georgieva, head of the IMF, and Ajay Banga, president of the World Bank, Caputo will participate in the G20 in South Africa and in a private meeting with investors organized by JPMorgan.
A busy agenda and a complete economic team
Caputo will be accompanied by:
- Santiago Bausili, president of the BCRA
- José Luis Daza, Secretary of Economic Policy
- Pablo Quirno, Secretary of Finance
- Vladimir Werning, Vice President of the BCRA
Each will have an active role: Bausili will present to Rodrigo Valdés (IMF), Quirno will speak at the IDB, and Caputo will also meet with key European officials like Gita Gopinath (IMF), Jörg Kukies (Germany), Éric Lombard (France), and Giancarlo Giorgetti (Italy).
