"This is what I do to rats," said the merchant after capturing the criminal who had robbed his business and dragging him tied to a truck until he handed him over to the authorities.

Under the management of Axel Kicillof, the Buenos Aires territory has become a "liberated zone" where the criminal is protected by guarantees and the honest citizen is left to fend for themselves. This vacuum of state power has forced neighbors to take extreme measures of justice by their own hand to defend what they worked so hard to achieve. The setting for this dramatic image of abandonment was the city of Zárate, specifically in the Barrio El Progreso, during midday this Tuesday.

It all began in a local self-service store, where a criminal stole belongings from the business under the modality of theft. Faced with the ineffectiveness of provincial security forces, the store owner decided not to resign himself to being just another statistic of unpunished crime: he conducted his own investigation, found out who the perpetrator was, and personally went to the criminal's home to confront him.

Upon arriving at the house, the situation escalated in violence when the suspect threatened the victim with a knife, demonstrating the danger posed by individuals walking freely on the streets of Buenos Aires. However, the merchant managed to subdue the attacker and, in an act that reflects the total frustration of a society that no longer expects anything from the government of Kicillof, decided to deliver his own sentence: he tied the criminal with a rope to the back of his Ford Ranger truck and began a journey of several blocks in front of the astonished neighbors.

The sequence, which was recorded by various security cameras, is chilling and shows the harshness of reality in the PBA. In the images, it can be seen how the criminal, minutes after 1:00 PM, is forced to run behind the vehicle to avoid being dragged, although at times his body hit directly against the asphalt. At one point in the video, the truck suddenly stopped and the suspect, due to the inertia of the movement, hit his body against the back and fell to the ground. Far from stopping, the merchant got out of the vehicle, tightened the rope, and continued driving while hitting the subject.

The level of indignation and the feeling of abandonment by the provincial State were captured in the worker's screams, who exclaimed in fury:

“I have to stop working to hunt rats like you, son of a bitch”. The criminal's ordeal ended when the merchant took him to a tree and left him tied there, sentencing in front of those present: “This is what I do to rats like you, I tie them up. Now go and report me, did you hear? Stay tied up there”.

After the videos went viral, the Functional Instruction Unit No. 8 Decentralized of Zárate intervened, under the direction of prosecutor Fernando Martín Reina. Currently, two legal cases are being instructed: one for theft, investigating the initial robbery at the self-service store, and another for injuries, due to the multiple scrapes and blows that the accused suffered during the transfer. So far, and despite the seriousness of the events that demonstrate the fracture of the social contract in the province, official sources confirmed that neither of the two involved is detained.
