Carlos Pagni compared Javier Milei to Hitler and DAIA replied firmly

DAIA clearly condemned the infamous analogy of the nefarious journalist, Carlos Pagni

The recent column published by journalist Carlos Pagni in the newspaper La Nación is not only a reflection of that unease but alarming evidence of the level of irresponsibility with which some analysts are willing to act in order to attack President Javier Milei.

In his text titled "Argentina, a Tower of Babel", Pagni draws a parallel as forced as it is dangerous between the current Argentine political moment and the thirty days prior to Adolf Hitler's rise to power in 1933, as described by historian Henry Ashby Turner in his book 30 Days to Power. The thesis: a disoriented leadership and a society mobilized by anger would have paved the way for a disruptive leader. The subtext, outrageous: equating Javier Milei—a president elected by 56% of the electorate in free elections—with the dictator who unleashed the greatest tragedy in modern history.

The reaction was swift. The Delegation of Argentine Jewish Associations (DAIA), the leading representative body of the Jewish community in the country, issued a strong statement rejecting the comparison: "We are deeply concerned and reject the comparison of the surrounding reality to the rise to power of the monster who caused the worst tragedy in universal history with the Argentine reality. Comparing the conditions under which our Argentine President came to power with Hitlerian Germany is an aberration."

The DAIA also highlighted the ethical incongruity of such an analogy: "It is precisely the opposite; we are facing a president who condemns terrorism and speaks in favor of life against a leader capable of murdering millions of people."

This repudiation is not minor. It was issued by an institution historically committed to the memory of the Holocaust and the defense of human rights. And it was as clear as it was direct: equating Milei with Hitler not only trivializes the Nazi horror but completely falsifies the Argentine reality.

The image shows a tweet from DAIA Argentina expressing concern and rejection over the comparison between the current situation in Argentina and Hitler's rise to power, labeling such a comparison as an aberration and a minimization of the historical disaster.

At the center of the debate is a journalistic elite that, when exposed in their lies, responds with the shield of press freedom to avoid accountability. Meanwhile, faced with that hypocrisy, President Javier Milei decided to speak with the same directness that brought him to power. From his X account, he launched a message that became a national trend:.

"Given all the crying every time I respond to the giant mountain of lies, slander, and insults they usually say daily (they do it 24/7), I ask you: Haven't you thought of stopping lying and starting by telling the truth?"

He added harshly, without euphemisms: "The level of arrogance and unbridled ego makes them think they are on an ivory tower that no longer exists... If they don't start apologizing, every day the phrase will be worth more: 'people don't hate journalists enough'"

"It would be good for Carlos Pagni to become aware of the atrocity he has said, and I hope that the authorities of the channel @lanacionmas and the newspaper where he publishes his columns @LANACION, which have allowed such a barbaric act, apologize. Regards. JM" he concluded with the incongruity.
