The national government once again made it clear that geopolitical alignment with the United States constitutes one of the central pillars of President Javier Milei's foreign policy, especially in light of the complex scenario Venezuela is going through after the forced departure of former dictator Nicolás Maduro.
According to Infobae, sources close to the presidency flatly denied the reports claiming that Milei had actively promoted the rise of Edmundo González Urrutia as part of a transition scheme. "It's false", sources from the libertarian Political Board asserted, while emphasizing that Argentina doesn't promote candidacies or diplomatic operations outside the strategy defined by Washington.
Full coordination with the White House
In Balcarce 50, officials explain that the decision to lower the public profile in recent days responds to the need not to interfere in the negotiations led by Donald Trump's government, which considers it key to work with current Venezuelan president Delcy Rodríguez to stabilize the political situation and avoid a scenario of power vacuum.

Milei himself stated, after the operation that led to Maduro's capture, that González Urrutia is the elected president, highlighting the legitimacy of the electoral process. However, within the ruling coalition, officials stress that recognizing an electoral result doesn't imply forcing an immediate transition, especially when the regime's structure still retains levers of power.
"Calling elections today would be madness", summarized an unimpeachable source from the Presidency, warning that there are no minimum guarantees for a viable institutional process.
