Venezuela's regime released Argentine citizen Gustavo Gabriel Rivara this Monday, who had been arbitrarily detained in Caracas prisons. The news was officially confirmed by Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno through a statement released on social media, where he detailed the status of the situation and the diplomatic efforts carried out.
The Foreign Ministry reported that Rivara appeared at the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Colombia, where he received consular assistance and was issued the corresponding personal documentation. In addition, the Argentine authorities confirmed that they maintained permanent contact with him and with his inner circle from the moment of his release.

In his message, Quirno stated that the national government continues to closely follow his situation and reiterated the demand for the immediate release of Nahuel Gallo and Germán Giuliani, as well as all citizens who remain unlawfully deprived of their freedom by the regime headed by Nicolás Maduro.
According to the available information, Rivara was reportedly held in El Helicoide, one of the most feared detention centers in Caracas, without formal charges or a public judicial process. His case was considered from the outset as an arbitrary detention, and only in recent days was the Argentine government able to fully confirm his identity.
Rivara's name had begun to circulate in recent hours following publications by Venezuelan outlet Reportes Ya, which warned about his health condition and the circumstances of his detention. Those reports warned of a psychosocial deterioration resulting from isolation and prolonged incommunication. Official records indicate that Rivara was born on June 24, 1973, and that he lived in Castelar, Buenos Aires Province.
The release was welcomed by Security Minister Patricia Bullrich, who emphasized that this is encouraging news, although she stressed that it is still necessary to ensure that all Argentines illegally detained in Venezuela can regain their freedom.
Among the cases that continue to generate concern is that of lawyer Germán Darío Giuliani, detained since May 2025, who went so far as to publicly state that he feared for his life and that he was being held incommunicado. Businessman Roberto Baldo also remains in custody, arrested along with his wife in November 2024, with no clear information about his legal situation.

Meanwhile, the Argentine government keeps a firm demand for Nahuel Gallo, a non-commissioned officer of the National Gendarmerie, detained in December 2024 upon entering Venezuela to reunite with his family. Since then, he has remained deprived of his freedom under irregular conditions, without access to official information.
Rivara's release represents a positive step, but the Executive Branch emphasizes that the diplomatic work will continue until all Argentines detained by the Venezuelan regime return home.
