Chubut eliminates the Stamp Tax for SMEs and promotes productive credit

Ignacio Torres promotes a tax exemption for SMEs in Chubut

With the goal of encouraging business formalization and facilitating access to financing, Chubut Governor Ignacio Torres announced the submission to the provincial Legislature of a bill to exempt capitalization and incorporation operations of SMEs based in the province from the Stamp Tax. The measure aims to provide immediate tax relief and promote new investments in the productive sector.

The initiative was presented at Government House during a fiscal transparency event. There, Torres described the Stamp Tax as "distortive and anti-investment" and stated that it is essential "to clean up our companies so they can access the financial system." According to his explanation, the exemption will allow companies to regularize their legal status and better position themselves before banks, thus improving their access to credit.

Total exemption for one year and retroactive forgiveness

The project provides for a total exemption from the Stamp Tax for the next twelve months, applicable both to the incorporation of new companies and to capital increases in already existing companies. In addition, it includes retroactive forgiveness for a period of 24 months, also benefiting those who have carried out this type of operation in the recent past.

To access the benefit, companies must have their legal address in Chubut and maintain it for at least five years. The measure will be implemented and supervised by the Chubut Revenue Agency, while the General Inspectorate of Justice will be responsible for ensuring that companies comply with legal requirements.

A direct stimulus to employment and growth

"Access to financing is directly proportional to job creation," Torres emphasized and explained that SMEs are the true engine of employment in Chubut. In this regard, he linked this measure to a broader strategy to create conditions that encourage private investment through clear rules and greater legal certainty.

The provincial Executive believes that this initiative "takes the pressure off production and employment" and marks a shift in the relationship between the State and the private sector. The government is betting that this tax relief will generate a virtuous circle of formalization, financing, and the incorporation of workers into the system.

The measure is part of a series of reforms that Torres is promoting to position Chubut as a more competitive, transparent, and attractive province for sustained economic development.
