The CGT's co-secretary general confronted a K journalist for wanting to call a strike

Octavio Argüello also ruled out the possibility of taking any forceful action in defense of Cristina Kirchner

In an unusual and striking conversation, the CGT's co-secretary general, Octavio Argüello, confronted an ultra-Kirchnerist journalist who was trying to force a general strike in defense of the corrupt former president Cristina Kirchner, whom the Supreme Court upheld the conviction for the Vialidad case.

In a conversation with El Destape Radio, Argüello stated that the union has already expressed its position and ruled out immediate action. “We will surely meet next week,” he anticipated, and denied that urgent decisions would be made.

Argüello, also a leader of the Truck Drivers' union, denied that the CGT is considering a protest in the short term over the judicial situation of former president Cristina Kirchner. “The CGT has already spoken out through a document,” the union leader pointed out.

So far we haven't discussed a strike over Cristina. If we do it, we have to do it for all issues, not just this one. We are not a party headquarters,” he said in a conversation with the Kirchnerist media outlet.

The most notable moment occurred when Argüello stated that “some tend to compare Cristina's situation with the events of 1955 or 1976, which were breaks in the constitutional order," after the Kirchnerist journalist pressured him for the CGT to carry out a general strike in defense of the corrupt former president Cristina Kirchner.

We reject what is happening, but we also recognize that this government was elected by popular vote,” explained the CGT's co-secretary general, ruling out any strike action.

We have to meet and then the plan going forward will be discussed. Not only because of the violation of a colleague's rights, but because of what is happening to all workers,” added the member of the triumvirate.

Finally, when asked about the timing, Argüello indicated: “I believe it will be next week because there are many colleagues who are in Geneva.”
