Colapinto in crisis: 'I'm not having a good time, and I need a good weekend.'
The Argentine driver acknowledged his drop in performance and requested greater connection with Alpine ahead of the Hungarian GP
The present for Franco Colapinto is not what was expected, neither for him nor for the Alpine team. After a promising debut in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, the Argentine driver has not managed to establish himself in the following rounds of the Formula 1, and his performance has been declining.
Looking ahead to the Hungarian Grand Prix, the young driver reflected on his performance and admitted that he is going through a difficult emotional moment. "I'm not having a good time. I think that's a bit of what I need before this break, a good weekend," he said sincerely.
Colapinto emphasized that, paradoxically, his best performance was in his debut at Imola, where he was the most competitive and closest to his teammate Pierre Gasly. "If I go back to Imola, I think it was almost my best weekend. It was the first time I drove the A525, the first time working with the team, and it doesn't make much sense that this was my best moment," he analyzed.

Since then, the results have declined: 16th in Italy, 13th in Monaco, 15th in Spain, 13th in Canada, 13th in Austria, 20th in Great Britain (did not start), and 19th in Belgium.
Regarding the team's performance, the Argentine was self-critical, but also pointed to the collective: "It's tough when you feel that not everything is coming together. In the end I'm improving, but one weekend one thing happens; another, something else. Things keep piling up and we don't put everything together," he said.

He added: "That's what needs to be improved. We need to work more on communication, have a slightly stronger connection. That's what we're looking for; and to be a bit more comfortable in general."
The Argentine also made a comparison with his previous stint at Williams, when he was a test driver and showed great adaptation to the car: "From the beginning I said that I'm lacking confidence with the car and that sometimes I just can't find myself in some corners. I struggle to turn, to get the car into the corners, and that simply doesn't give me confidence. Last year I didn't have this problem: I could go out and be fast right away, everything was more straightforward. Now I'm struggling a bit more, that's the reality," he explained.

To conclude, Colapinto placed his expectations on future improvement: "Let's hope we find that click we need, and from there I think we're going to move upward."
