Complete jury for the federal trial against Diddy Combs for sex trafficking
After a controversial selection, the 12 jurors and 6 alternates are ready for the sex trafficking trial
The federal criminal trial against Sean "Diddy" Combs in New York already has its jury formed. Finally, 12 main jurors and 6 alternates were selected, who will hear the opening statements scheduled for Monday morning.
The group was reduced from an initial list of more than 45 candidates. The selection was made official by Judge Arun Subramanian after an intense process filled with tensions between the defense and the prosecution.
A selection filled with controversy
From the start of the hearing, both parties began making their peremptory objections. Combs's defense, represented by attorney Marc Agnifilo, denounced that the prosecution removed seven Black individuals, which, according to him, reflected a discriminatory pattern.

However, prosecutor Maurene Comey defended the exclusions. She argued that the removed individuals had issues with law enforcement, prior knowledge of the case, limited English proficiency, or even perceived biased attitudes. Judge Subramanian rejected the defense's objection, assuring that it was not racial discrimination.
Despite the judge's attempt to close the selection before the end of the previous week, two candidates withdrew at the last moment. This forced the process to continue until Monday, with more exclusions and selections to complete the panel.
What to expect from the trial
The candidates were thoroughly examined, especially for their stances on issues like sex and violence. They were forewarned that the case would contain graphic material and disturbing content, requiring maturity to face the hearings.
Although they won't be sequestered, the jury members must adhere to strict rules. They were prohibited from discussing the case outside the courtroom and instructed to avoid any media coverage or internet searches during the trial.
The judge anticipated that the trial will last about eight weeks. The selected jurors were identified with the numbers 2, 5, 25, 28, 55, 58, 75, 116, 160, 184, 201, 217, 230, 234, 247, 292, 321, and 330.
Sean Combs faces five federal charges: two for sex trafficking, two for transportation for prostitution purposes, and one for conspiracy to commit extortion.
Public attention on the trial is immense, not only because of the figure of the accused but also due to the seriousness of the charges and the sensitivity of the content that will be discussed during the process.
