CONMEBOL has officially updated the Club Ranking that will be in effect starting from the 2026 season, and the new table has brought significant changes at the top positions, with a direct impact on River and Boca, as well as a notable presence of Argentine teams in the upper section.
This ranking is based on three variables, with the main one being performance in continental competitions over the last ten years, giving greater weight to the most recent campaigns. Added to this is the historical coefficient, which considers the points accumulated in Libertadores and Sudamericana from the beginning of the tournaments up to eleven years ago, and a fixed bonus for national league champions. The combination of these factors determines the positions that are then used as a reference for the draws of international cups.
In this context, the top of the table is now held by Palmeiras, finalist of the most recent Copa Libertadores, while Flamengo, the recent continental champion, appears in second place. The Millonario, which had been leading the ranking, dropped to third position and triggered a chain shift that moved Xeneize down to fourth place. Despite the change, both clubs will maintain their status as top seeds in the draws for Sudamericana and Libertadores, respectively.
