In Córdoba, former judge Maqueda supported the Court's ruling against Cristina Kirchner.

The former Supreme Court minister explained that the decision was reasonable and based on a final judgment without any constitutional violation

During an exhibition held in Córdoba, Juan Carlos Maqueda addressed the recent Supreme Court ruling. The former Minister of the Highest Court described the decision that upheld the conviction of Cristina Kirchner as "absolutely logical". He stated that it was a resolution based on clear legal criteria, without political interference or procedural irregularities.

Maqueda explained that, in response to the extraordinary appeal, the Court had three possible courses of action as established by law. It could have sent the case back to Cassation, admitted the complaint on a constitutional issue, or rejected it for lack of a federal question. Since the original ruling was unanimous and confirmed, they chose to reject the appeal, as permitted by current case law.

Legal powers

"The oral court's ruling was confirmed by Cassation and there were no relevant federal issues," the former judge stated. He indicated that the Court replied to all the defense's arguments and acted within its legal powers. "The decision was reasonable, consistent with the law, and coherent with the case's precedents," he emphasized.

Maqueda stated that the ruling reinforces the role of the Judiciary as a guarantor of institutional balance in a democracy. From his perspective, there were no arbitrary actions or violations of rights in any of the stages prior to the final ruling. The Court's resolution sets a clear limit to the abuse of power and affirms the principle of equality before the law.

The conviction was consistent with the law

The Supreme Court of Justice upheld the ruling that convicted former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner for corruption in the "Vialidad" case. The highest court rejected the complaint filed by her defense, considering that there were not enough federal arguments to intervene.

The original sentence was issued by Federal Oral Court No. 2 and later confirmed by the Cassation Chamber. The conviction upheld against Cristina Kirchner was six years in prison and disqualification from holding public office. She was found guilty of the crime of fraudulent administration to the detriment of the State.
