Córdoba: Luis Juez testifies as a witness in the PAMI Case

The national senator Luis Juez from Córdoba has been summoned by the Justice to testify as a witness in the Pami case.

In fact, federal judge Carlos Ochoa summoned the national legislator to testify in the case regarding alleged overbilling in the retirees' health insurance, which has led to the indictment of former national deputy Marcos Carasso for alleged influence peddling.

Prior to his appearance in the Federal Court of Río Cuarto, Juez stated: “I will provide the Justice with the truth, what it lacks. My testimony will be absolutely clarifying. Clearly, there was a setup just when the Barrelier issue was happening, with a lot of cunning they tried to equate or liken behaviors. There was an abuse, a disgrace.”

Regarding Carasso, Juez made a staunch defense and stated that “he is an honorable, decent guy.” He explained that the radical “was managing with the PAMI like any political leader who manages to get a clinic paid or to deliver a wheelchair to a retiree.”

When asked by journalists why Carasso resigned from all positions if he is innocent, Luis Juez replied: “Because it is appropriate, because he has to defend himself like an ordinary citizen, but I am not Carasso's lawyer. He has a very good lawyer.”

Investigation into Pami

The Justice is investigating an alleged fraud against the local Pami.

Unofficially, it has been reported that the amount of the fraud would amount to 1.4 billion pesos.

The investigation has made progress with a series of procedures ordered by the Justice.

At the time, searches were carried out at the office that Carasso occupied in the Provincial Court of Accounts and at his private residence in the city of General Cabrera.

After the indictment, Carasso left the Court of Accounts, where he worked as director of Non-Permanent Jurisdiction.

The resignation was submitted to the president of the Court of Accounts, the juecista Beltrán Corvalán, from whom he directly depended.

The Justice suspects that the former deputy acted as a link with businessmen accused of defrauding the retirees' health insurance.

In addition to being a deputy, Carasso was the mayor of Cabrera, president of the UCR of Córdoba, and candidate for vice of Juez.

The case examines maneuvers that may have caused economic harm to Pami and continues in the instruction phase, with new measures.
