Locally manufactured supplies include 22,000 repellent creams plus 500,000 tablets to be delivered to medical centers
Córdoba Capital has an initial batch of medical products intended to mitigate the spread of insect-borne diseases. The Municipal Pharmaceutical Laboratory has completed the production of 22,000 containers of repellent cream to be delivered to different health centers. This first production stage is complemented by a reserve of 500,000 paracetamol tablets to meet patient demand.
Health authorities are planning a second manufacturing phase that will double the amount of medication available in the public system. It is estimated that the new repellent containers will have a capacity of 60 grams (2.12 ounces) to ensure a complete preventive treatment per person. The distribution logistics include supplying 100 municipal health centers and various medical specialty departments.
Monitoring of the presence of the mosquito vector was recently intensified in localities such as Alta Gracia and sectors of the metropolitan area. Epidemiology experts are currently analyzing the records obtained in households in La Calera to determine the risk of local outbreaks. These field studies make it possible to identify the areas with the highest larval density and coordinate cleaning actions in common spaces.
Hasta la fecha se han concretado más de 50 intervenciones en distintos barrios
Cleaning schedule and environmental monitoring
The operations to remove containers that accumulate water remain active as an essential measure to reduce natural breeding sites. To date, more than 50 interventions have been carried out in different neighborhoods to eliminate objects that favor the reproduction of the insect. Citizen cooperation in maintaining private yards is a decisive factor for the success of these preventive campaigns.
The activity schedule for next week includes exhaustive rounds through sectors such as the Iponá neighborhood and also Chingolo I, II, III, and IV. During Wednesday's workday, the crews will move to Marcelo T. de Alvear to continue sanitation tasks. Residents of the Sarmiento and Marechal neighborhoods will receive the technical teams on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
The use of paracetamol and skin protectants is part of a strategy that seeks to prevent complications in the face of the first detected cases. Forecasting in the manufacture of these basic supplies in Córdoba Capital allows optimization of the available resources in the face of the arrival of imported viruses.
