Córdoba recorded over a thousand digital payments and four arrests during the debut of measured parking at events

During the match between Belgrano and Rosario Central in the Alberdi neighborhood, in Córdoba Capital, the municipal paid parking scheme for mass attendance sports events was implemented for the first time. The operational intervention was deployed with the aim of regulating the use of roadways and vehicle circulation in an area characterized by high urban density. The municipal government secretary, Rodrigo Fernández, provided details about the control scheme aimed at replacing informal and irregular services on the streets.

The statistics from the first operation reported more than 1,000 subscribers through the digital platform for measured parking and the scanning of QR codes distributed in the perimeter. The official technological application currently records a total of over 160,000 users across the entire capital jurisdiction. Rodrigo Fernández told a local media outlet: "People have already adopted the mechanism and the method; the presence of the inspectors was key to helping download the app."

The fee set for this type of event was established at $2,250 per hour of stay, an amount equivalent to the commercial value of 1 liter of premium gasoline. Technical reports indicated that vehicles maintained an average parking time between 1.5 and 2 hours within the perimeter. The presence of information agents facilitated the download of the software tool for drivers attending the sporting event.

Monitoring of roadways and penalties issued

The monitoring device included patrols by provincial police and the use of municipal drones to continuously monitor the streets from the air. During inspection tasks, 8 individuals were detected making informal payment demands to motorists looking to park on public roads. Security forces apprehended 4 of these individuals, who were formally placed at the disposal of the competent courts for violating regulations.

Rodrigo Fernández emphasized the control actions: "We want people to be able to manage public space and not have to be extorted or assaulted by someone who thinks the space belongs to them." The preventive measures aimed to consolidate the self-management of motorists through authorized digital payment channels. The Municipal Traffic Police coordinated movements and the verification of credentials within the designated area.

The application perimeter covered a total of 45 blocks bounded by Santa Fe Avenue, the waterfront, 27 de Abril Street, and San Jerónimo Cemetery, in Córdoba Capital. The municipal tow truck removed 8 vehicles that were blocking garages, ramps for people with disabilities, or parked in double rows. Additionally, staff from the area issued digital verification reports for lack of payment and wrote manual fines for those occupying bike lanes and sidewalks.
