The Ministry of Bioagroindustry of Córdoba shut down several establishments in Malagueño for slaughtering and selling meat without sanitary authorization. The businesses operated without food safety inspections, offering products through social media. The procedures were supported by the Rural Patrol and Senasa, within the framework of provincial food safety.
During the inspection, slaughter and butchering areas were found in conditions completely unsuitable for food handling. The facilities lacked the authorizations required by law and did not guarantee traceability or veterinary control. Authorities seized 50 kilograms (110 pounds) of beef and tools used in the illegal activity during the operation.
La carne incautada era ofrecida por redes sociales, sin medidas de refrigeración ni control sanitario que aseguren su consumo seguro.
Destruction of the product and sanctions
The seized meat was offered through social media, without refrigeration measures or sanitary controls to ensure its safe consumption. All the product was transported to an authorized slaughterhouse for destruction, in accordance with current regulations. Authorities ordered the immediate cessation of the activity and initiated administrative and criminal proceedings.
The procedures were carried out in compliance with provincial laws 10,326, 6,974, and 5,542, which regulate the slaughter and commercialization of meat. These regulations aim to safeguard public health, ensure herd traceability, and protect consumers. The Government of Córdoba thus reinforces controls in response to the rise of informal practices that undermine legal and sanitary competition.

Informal economy and risk to public health
The proliferation of clandestine butcher shops reflects the growth of the informal economy in the interior of Córdoba. These practices evade oversight and put consumers' health at risk, in addition to harming the formal sector. The productive sector is calling for stricter controls and exemplary sanctions to discourage illegality.
