Governor Alfredo Cornejo was responsible for closing the Somos Pymes Summit 2025, before an audience of more than 800 businesspeople, economists, and productive sector leaders from across the country. The event, held at the Sheraton Mendoza Hotel, marked a point of convergence between the public and private sectors to discuss the challenges of the Argentine economy and the conditions necessary for sustainable growth.
Accompanied by Vice Governor Hebe Casado, Minister of Production Rodolfo Vargas Arizu, and Somos Pymes Director Cristian Dátola, Cornejo highlighted the importance of fiscal balance, investment, and predictability as pillars of development. "Fiscal balance is a sine qua non condition for growth, but it is not a sufficient condition," stated the Mendoza leader.
Structural reforms and investment climate
During his presentation, Cornejo insisted on the need for structural reforms in fiscal and labor matters, with the goal of strengthening competitiveness and energizing private employment. "For there to be investment and the creation of genuine jobs, we need a tax system that rewards those who produce and not those who speculate," he asserted.

The governor emphasized that SMEs are "the heart of the Argentine economy", and that his administration is working to support them with concrete measures that ease the tax burden. In that regard, he recalled that Mendoza has maintained seven consecutive years of balanced public accounts, with a reduction of distortionary taxes and a fiscal surplus.
"We are one of the few provinces that can show a surplus and responsible management, which generates trust and predictability for investment. We do not spend more than we have, and that allows us to sustain public investment and support the private sector," Cornejo emphasized.
