Teófilo Gutiérrez managed to shine at River between 2013 and 2015, a period during which he displayed one of his best individual performances. Controversial like few others, the 40-year-old Colombian forward, currently at Junior de Barranquilla, revealed an anecdote from his early days in Núñez: a warning from the team's leaders for arriving at training sessions with a luxury car.
"I arrived in Argentina as a star. I had a car like Mario Balotelli's, a top-of-the-line Peugeot. Ponzio and the other River captains told me I couldn't bring that car. I had to think about the younger players and that it's a very big club," Teo said in an interview with ToqueSports.
Far from taking it badly, the former Racing, Rosario Central, and Lanús player considered it a lesson: "It's a life lesson that the elders are teaching you, you have to respect it. They're respecting you so you can win, and I won all the titles there," he pointed out.
