Matías Kranevitter is leaving River and already has a new and exotic destination.
The midfielder from Tucumán terminated his contract with the transfer rights in his possession after not being considered by Marcelo Gallardo and will continue his career in Türkiye
When it seemed that Marcelo Gallardo's broom had finished sweeping away names, a sudden departure occurred: Matías Kranevitter reached an agreement to leave River with his transfer rights in his possession.
According to journalist Germán García Grova, Colo terminated his contract and will sign for one year with Fatih Karagümrük, from Türkiye. His destination is somewhat peculiar, since the club is not one of the most prominent clubs in its league (12th in the Süper Lig), but his decision is understandable since he did not have any other concrete offers to leave earlier.

Colo had started in the last Club World Cup match against Inter, but after returning to training, Gallardo informed him that he would not be considered. Since early July he had been training separately and did not play any more minutes wearing Millonario's jersey.
The midfielder from Tucumán had returned to the club at the end of 2022, in the first days of Martín Demichelis as coach. However, a serious injury in a friendly against Unión La Calera affected his performance: he was never able to regain the dynamism that had made him stand out in his first spell.

His departure completes the list of separated players: previously, Leandro González Pírez (Estudiantes), Rodrigo Aliendro (Vélez), Manuel Lanzini (Vélez), Gonzalo Tapia (San Pablo), Santiago Simón (Toluca), and Matías Rojas (Portland Timbers) had left.
Kranevitter's numbers at River
Kranevitter played a total of 148 matches in two spells, with no goals and two assists. In his return since 2023, he won three titles with Demichelis: Liga Profesional, Trofeo de Campeones, and Supercopa Argentina.
In his first spell, he won with Ramón Díaz and Gallardo the Torneo Final 2014, Copa Campeonato, Copa Sudamericana, Recopa Sudamericana, Copa Libertadores 2015, and the Suruga Bank in Japan.
