But, what exactly is cyclogenesis and why can it cause such a marked change in the weather?
Although its name may sound alarming, it is a known and studied meteorological process. It does not necessarily mean that an extreme phenomenon is forming, nor should it automatically be confused with a hurricane. The key lies in atmospheric pressure.

What is cyclogenesis and how does it form?
The word helps to understand much of the phenomenon: “cycle” refers to a cyclone or low-pressure system, while “genesis” means origin or formation.
Therefore, cyclogenesis is the process by which a low-pressure center forms or intensifies in the atmosphere.
In the southern hemisphere, winds circulate around these systems in a clockwise direction. When certain conditions of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric dynamics exist, the pressure in a region begins to decrease, and the system can deepen.
As this occurs, winds can intensify and cloud cover, rain, and storms can develop around the affected area.

The system affecting the country has a special impact on the Litoral and northeastern Argentina, while subsequently the influx of cold air will favor a thermal drop in a broader portion of the territory.
