The French multinational Decathlon opened its first store on November 8 at the Al Río complex in Vicente López, in a massive event that brought together over 10,000 people and exceeded all expectations.
The public's enthusiasm was such that, during its first weekend, the Argentine store became the number one in sales across Decathlon's entire global network, leading the company's worldwide records.
Since the afternoon before the opening, thousands of people began lining up to be the first to enter the new 32,292 square foot (3,000 square meter) store. Before 9 a.m. on Saturday, there were already over 3,000 visitors waiting, and entry remained steady throughout the day with a maximum capacity of 700 people at a time.

The first 300 visitors received gift cards of up to 400,000 pesos, while the first 500 purchases received an exclusive commemorative souvenir marking the brand's arrival.
The event was a true sports and cultural celebration. There was live music, freestyle shows, roller and juggling demonstrations, as well as temporary tattoo stations and interactive games with prizes. The festive atmosphere accompanied the beginning of a new chapter for Decathlon, which already operates in over 70 countries and is recognized for its accessible innovation model in sports equipment.
“We have believed in this project from day one, and people's enthusiasm reaffirmed it. We seek to transform the way millions of Argentines live and enjoy physical activity”, stated Francisco Tedin, COO of Decathlon Argentina, as he celebrated the historic debut.

The Vicente López store offers over 5,000 products for 65 sports disciplines, designed for both beginners and professional athletes. Meanwhile, the online channel Decathlon.com.ar was launched, allowing purchases from anywhere in the country, expanding the brand's reach beyond the metropolitan area.
Looking ahead, the company announced an ambitious expansion plan: to open over 20 stores in the next five years, with an investment exceeding 100 million dollars and the creation of 750 direct jobs. During 2026, two new locations will be added at Abasto Shopping and Alto Palermo, while future openings are being considered in Rosario, Córdoba, and Mendoza.
With global sales records and a massive reception, Decathlon's debut in Argentina not only consolidates its presence in Latin America, but also confirms the enormous potential of the national sports market.
