In an unprecedented disaster scenario, the government of Javier Milei has taken the initiative in response to the humanitarian catastrophe caused by two devastating earthquakes that struck northern Venezuela last Wednesday. The quakes, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, were recorded less than one minute apart, leaving a chilling official toll of at least 1430 dead, more than 3000 injured, and thousands missing. In light of this critical situation, the response from the Argentine president was immediate and decisive, deploying humanitarian assistance that is already operating at the epicenter of the disaster.

The recognition of our country's efforts came swiftly from the highest levels. The acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, expressed her deep gratitude through her social media, highlighting the leadership of our leader:

“Thank you to the President of Argentina, Javier Milei, and the Argentine people for their solidarity and support in this difficult time. We value your backing and commitment to accompany us in the rescue and assistance efforts for the affected families”. This message, which was shared by Javier Milei himself, underscores the diplomatic impact of a management that prioritizes action over rhetoric.

The technical operation, coordinated by the Cabinet Chief, the Foreign Ministry, the Federal Emergency Agency (AFE), and the Ministry of Defense, was executed with surgical precision. The Argentine contingent, composed of 26 members of the Armed Forces (including personnel from the Marine Corps), arrived in Caracas at 2:30 AM on Saturday. The mission is led by Colonel Miguel Ángel Wissinger and was formally received by the Venezuelan Minister of Defense, Chief General Gustavo Enrique González López.

To ensure the success of the mission, the Argentine State mobilized an impressive logistics operation that included:

An Embraer aircraft with capacity for 40 passengers.

A Hercules C-130 from the Argentine Air Force.

An aircraft from Aerolíneas Argentinas.

Complete medical equipment, medications, a prepared ambulance, and trained canine teams for locating survivors under the rubble.

Additionally, the shipment included critical resources for the affected: 134 tents, two water purification plants, 48 cooking kits, mattresses, stretchers, and air conditioning units for the shelter centers. Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno confirmed that the 3 planes arrived successfully and announced that executives from Aeropuertos Argentina will collaborate in the rehabilitation of the Caracas airport, following the essential support from YPF and AA to fulfill the mission swiftly.

Currently, the Argentine rescuers —whose work was praised by the Minister of Security, Alejandra Monteoliva, stating that “Argentina is proud of you”— are working intensively in the city of Caraballeda, in the state of La Guaira. In this area, one of the hardest hit by the earthquake, our personnel apply their training in critical situations and high-complexity scenarios, working side by side with teams from ten other countries, reaffirming that, under the leadership of Javier Milei, Argentina has regained its place of relevance in the concert of nations.
