They demand the arrest of Claudio Caniggia in the case of sexual abuse against Mariana Nannis.
The complainant's lawyer requested that the former player's freedom be revoked, accusing him of disobeying court orders and obstructing the progress of the case
The Justice issued an arrest warrant against Claudio Paul Caniggia, in the context of the case in which he is being investigated for alleged sexual abuse reported by his ex-wife, Mariana Nannis.
The plaintiff's attorney representing the complainant requested that the former player's freedom be revoked, considering that he may have committed disobedience and might be obstructing the development of the judicial process, according to the filing.

Caniggia is being prosecuted in a case that, according to sources from the file, contains relevant evidence and statements that would compromise his situation. Now, the Justice must decide whether to order preventive detention while the oral trial is conducted.
The legal team surrounding the former Argentina National Team forward conveys calm and confidence in response to the request, considering that it was made solely by Mariana Nannis's attorney and not by the judge in charge of the case. According to reports, they expect the latter to reject it.
What happened at the Hotel Faena?
The sexual abuse complaint filed by Mariana Nannis refers to an incident that occurred at the Hotel Faena in 2018, although the case formally began in 2020.
The night in question began at a wedding held at the Palermo Racetrack. Caniggia arrived around 3:30 in the morning and, from there, headed to the Hotel Faena accompanied by Nannis and Adriana Ferrer, in a black car that he himself was driving. "The passenger seat was fully reclined, which is a significant detail in the context of what would later happen," the attorney pointed out.

In this regard, Ferrer's testimony will be key in the oral trial. However, a complaint for false testimony in another judicial instance raises doubts about Caniggia's willingness to submit to the legal process.
Currently, Claudio Caniggia remains free while being prosecuted, a condition that implies two essential obligations: not evading justice and not interfering with the investigation. "We don't believe he will flee, because he has ties in the country. But we do understand that he is hindering the case by taking legal action against key witnesses," the attorney concluded.
