New records from the Federal Election Commission reveal that Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumerreceived at least USD 22,000 in donations fromJeffrey Epstein during the 1990s, even though today he presents himself as one of the most staunch critics of the late financier accused of child sex trafficking.
Between 1992 and 1997, Epstein made seven contributions of USD 1,000 directly to Schumer's campaigns, first as a congressman and later as a candidate for the Senate from New York. In addition to those contributions, USD 10,000 was directed to Victory in New York, a joint committee associated with Schumer and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), as well as USD 5,000 to Win New York, another committee linked to the legislator.
According to the regulations in force during that period, Epstein had already reached the legal limit for direct donations to the candidate, so these committees channeled additional funds mainly to the DSCC and the Liberal Party of New York.

Following the disclosure of this information, a Schumer spokesperson stated that the committees in question closed two decades ago and assured that the senator will donate an equivalent sum to organizations dedicated to combating sex trafficking and violence against women.
Schumer had already taken similar steps with donations received from Harvey Weinstein. Nevertheless, the revelation has reignited criticism regarding the senator's moral consistency, given that he now demands strong accountability for the handling of the Epstein case.
In a recent speech in the Senate, Schumer called for the resignation of former Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta over the plea deal he negotiated with Epstein when he was a federal prosecutor in Miami.

The Democratic senator also hypocritically urged President Donald Trump to "explain" comments made in 2002 in which he described Epstein as a "terrific guy."
However, 2011 court documents indicate that Trump expelled Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago club after learning that he had allegedly assaulted a minor on the premises. Election Commission records show that Epstein never donated to Trump, unlike what happened with Schumer.
The revelations have raised questions about the Democratic leader's rhetoric, who has insisted on presenting the Epstein case as an example of institutional impunity. While Schumer criticizes officials and demands transparency, historical records show that he maintained a financial relationship with Epstein for years, a situation that now calls his position in the public debate into question.
In contrast, the available documents state that Trump distanced himself from Epstein as soon as inappropriate behavior emerged, and his record shows no financial contributions or campaign ties with the accused.
Las pruebas aseguran que Trump no solo se distanció de Epstein en cuanto descubrió sus conductas inapropiadas, sino que nunca recibió donaciones del magnate pedófilo
