Deregulation in National Parks: Milei promotes opening to private tourism

The measure removes restrictions that previously limited the tourism offer to a small group of providers

The government of  Javier Milei advances in its deregulation agenda with a key reform in the National Parks system.

Through resolutions 61/25 and 62/25,  the national administration will allow private companies to offer tourist activities  and recreational activities in these protected areas without the previous bureaucratic obstacles.

An unprecedented change in the history of the parks

The measure, signed by Cristian Larsen and the Board of Directors of the National Parks Administration, removes restrictions that previously limited the  tourist offer to a small group of providers. Now, any company will be able to manage authorizations digitally, without excessive procedures and with the principle of  "positive silence", avoiding unjustified delays.

Among the most notable changes are:

  • Greater offer of activities: from night walks in El Impenetrable to balloon flights in Valle de la Luna.
  • Less bureaucracy: documentary requirements are reduced and the permitted infrastructure is simplified.
  • New rules for guides: it will no longer be mandatory to have one in all activities, only in those that are risky.
  • Elimination of obsolete records: such as those of photographers, equestrian activities, and rafts.

Tourism and conservation: can they coexist?

Far from representing an environmental risk, the government maintains that the opening to private tourismwill strengthen conservation by generating greater knowledge and appreciation for the parks. According to Federico Sturzenegger, this measure will allow more Argentines to access these natural spaces, promoting a real connection with their preservation.

National Parks like San Guillermo, Ansenuza, Traslasierra, and Perito Moreno, which currently receive less than one visitor per day, will be able to be revitalized with new proposals without losing their natural essence.

With this reform, Milei deepens his policy of reducing the State and free competition, bringing his revolution to the realm of tourism and nature.
