Diddy Combs claimed mental incapacity, but prosecutors rejected his defense
A week before the trial for sex trafficking, the rapper appealed to an alleged mental incapacity during the events
The legal team ofSean "Diddy" Combs attempted to introduce medical testimony to bolster his defense in the federal case he faces. According to the artist's lawyers, their client lacked the "mental capacity" to commit the alleged crimes, due to alcohol and drug use.
The defense proposed that a doctor, who is also a professor at Columbia University, testify that Diddy had a "mental condition linked to his culpability." However, the clinical details of this condition were completely redacted in the court documents.

Prosecutors replied with strong opposition, stating that this argument was unsustainable. According to documents obtained by TMZ, they indicated that the defense failed to provide the prior notice required by law to present evidence related to the effects of substances on an accused's memory or behavior.
The prosecution discredited the medical testimony
The Public Ministry also questioned the validity of the doctor's testimony, as he never directly examined Diddy. His opinion, they claimed, was based solely on his experience with other patients and had no specific basis in this case.
Additionally, they considered any medical statement about whether the rapper was capable of controlling his behavior during the reported incidents irrelevant. The federal accusation keeps that Diddy drugged his victims to subdue them during the so-called "frenzies," which raises a contradiction: was he himself under the influence of substances when committing the alleged crimes?
Meanwhile, the prosecution also requested to block the testimony of a forensic video expert. This expert was going to refer to the recording of the beating of Cassie in a hotel, evidence that the judge had already accepted as proof.
So far, the magistrate has not decided whether to admit the two witnesses requested by the defense. The trial, however, is scheduled to begin in just one week.
