Diego Latorre spoke about River's current situation: 'Gallardo isn't getting it right because things aren't working.'
Latorre sees Gallardo as "composed"

The former player and journalist criticized the team's direction and stated that the coach has strayed from his identity due to the pressure of results
River is going through a complicated moment. Elimination from the Copa Libertadores against Palmeiras and three consecutive defeats in the Torneo Apertura have left the team at the center of criticism, although the victory against Racing in the Copa Argentina brought brief relief. In this context, Diego Latorre analyzed the current situation of the Millonario squad and pointed directly at Marcelo Gallardo.
"I see Gallardo trapped by urgency like most coaches, but with the responsibility of being consistent with what he once was," Latorre said in conversation with Hugo Balassone. "I follow his communication style closely, I see him composed, making accurate diagnoses, but he is not succeeding because things are not working, neither with the changes nor with the squads," he added.
Gallardo no logra encontrar el equipo
The former striker also questioned the club's transfer policies and the cost that this anxiety to win generates in planning: "The number of players River has bought, some at very inflated prices and overvalued... this is about the desperation to win. The team that sells knows River is coming with the need to get a player and this happens to Liverpool or Manchester City."
Finally, Latorre warned that the coach could be losing the hallmark that distinguished him in his most successful years: "Gallardo is entering that very dangerous path of wanting to change and that leads to moving away from the identity. The player begins to weaken when he feels the coach uses him as an instrument of that urgency. If you know that after ten minutes you could be replaced or that in the next match you will not play, you lose confidence and freedom to play."
