The president of the United States, Donald Trump, published a message this Tuesday on his social network Truth Social in which he expressed strong support for the Argentine president, Javier Milei, whom he described as a "fantastic and powerful leader." The statement became known ahead of the bilateral meeting that both leaders will hold in New York, within the framework of the United Nations General Assembly.
In his message, Trump stated that Milei "has proven to be a truly fantastic and powerful leader for the great people of Argentina, advancing at all levels at record speed." The Republican leader recalled that the Argentine president inherited what he defined as a "total disaster" in economic matters, with high inflation, which he attributed to the management of the previous Kirchnerist government.

Trump emphasized that under Milei's leadership, the Argentine economy "has regained stability" and reached "a new level of prominence and respect." In that regard, he highlighted that the bilateral relationship between the United States and Argentina "has become a strong alliance" and attributed that rapprochement to the libertarian leader.
"I look forward to continuing to work closely with him so that both countries can continue on their unbelievable paths of success," Trump wrote. He also described Milei as "a very good friend, fighter, and winner," and concluded the message with a forceful phrase: "He has my complete and total support for reelection as president. He'll never let you down!"

The statement from the U.S. president comes in a context of negotiations between officials from both countries for the implementation of a financial assistance plan aimed at strengthening the reserves of the Argentine Central Bank and ensuring debt commitments. The U.S. Treasury Secretary himself, Scott Bessent, recently stated that "all options are on the table" to support the Argentine government.
The meeting between Milei and Trump, scheduled for midday in New York after the Republican leader's speech at the General Assembly, is generating expectations both diplomatically and economically.
With this message, Trump not only reaffirmed his personal support for Milei but also sent a signal of confidence regarding the political and economic direction Argentina has taken in recent months.
