Given the adverse weather conditions and the very high and extreme risk of forest fires recorded in Córdoba, an aerial surveillance and prevention operation was carried out with the aim of detecting possible fire outbreaks early and reinforcing preventive presence in critical areas.
The operation was carried out with the joint intervention of two Air Tractor water-bombing aircraft, which flew in formation for 1 hour and 15 minutes, taking off at 2 p.m. from Córdoba Airport.

During the mission, the aircraft flew over a wide corridor that included the towns of Unquillo, Río Ceballos, Salsipuedes, Ascochinga, Capilla del Monte, La Cumbre, La Falda, Cosquín, Tanti, Villa Carlos Paz, San Antonio de Arredondo, and La Calera, completing an approximate route of 190 kilometers and an estimated coverage of 411,000 hectares.
Forest fires: water-bombing aircraft fly over Córdoba
The tasks were concentrated mainly in the eastern corridor of the Sierras Chicas, the Punilla Valley, and the shoreline of the San Roque Dam, areas considered strategic because of the high load of vegetative fuel and the high influx of people during the summer season.
The flyover included river areas, lakes, and recreational spaces, where the risk of fires associated with human activity increases.
This operation made it possible to reinforce preventive surveillance, optimize the early detection of fires, and strengthen the deterrent presence in sensitive sectors, contributing to the protection of the environment and to the safety of the population in the face of the current scenario of extreme risk.
