Ecuador is experiencing a key day in its political history with the presidential runoff between Daniel Noboa, businessman and current interim president, and Luisa González, representative of correísmo. The polls opened at 7:00 and will close at 17:00, while the country eagerly awaits the first official results.

The head of the European Union (EU) Electoral Observation Mission, Gabriel Mato, presented an initial assessment of the development of the second round of the presidential elections in Ecuador, after visiting several polling stations in the capital.
