The Autonomous City of Buenos Aires is holding the 2025 legislative elections this Sunday, May 18, according to the confirmation from the Buenos Aires electoral justice. Preliminary results will be available before 9 p.m. The use of the single electronic ballot (BUE) will significantly speed up the counting process.
This year, the resolution signed by judges Roberto Carlos Requejo, Romina Tesone, and Rodolfo Ariza Clerici allows the City Government to release the first results even from 7 p.m. This is as long as 25% of the tables are counted at the district level and 33% in each of the 15 communes.
The measure responds to the positive experience of the 2023 electoral process. Back then, the incorporation of technology demonstrated that results can be obtained reliably and in much less time. “The Electoral Management Institute will presumably have partial results before 9 p.m. that will show irreversible trends,” states the judicial resolution.
