Elon Musk claimed that the cyberattack on social network X originated in Ukraine
The revelation occurred during an interview with Fox Business Network on Monday afternoon.
The successful entrepreneur Elon Musk revealed that the massive cyberattack that affected his social network X this Monday apparently originated in Ukraine.
The revelation came during an interview with Fox Business Network on Monday afternoon, after multiple platform failures, which was down for most of the day.
"Well, we're not sure what exactly happened, but there was a massive cyberattack to try to take down the X system with IP addresses originating in the Ukraine area," Musk explained in the interview. Earlier that same day, Musk confirmed that X had been the victim of a "massive cyberattack."

The statement came after the social network experienced global failures. Since the morning, millions of users worldwide reported issues both on the app and the website.
Through X, Musk expressed that the attack involved so many resources that he suspects it could have been carried out by a "coordinated group" or even by a foreign state.
These suspicions seemed to be confirmed when the group Dark Storm Team claimed responsibility for the attack, according to a post on X on Monday afternoon.
This cyberterrorism group has already coordinated numerous attacks against different social networks and its history links it to terrorist organizations like Hamas.

Meanwhile, the cybersecurity firm SpyoSecure reported having contacted the leader of the Dark Storm team, who admitted to launching a DDOS attack against X.
The attack
A DDOS attack, or denial of service, involves overwhelming a website with fake traffic, causing its collapse. In this type of attack, hackers send thousands or millions of automated visits (bots) to overload the system, which slows down the site or completely blocks it, preventing access to real users.
Numerous users reported being unable to log into their accounts, while others indicated that the site wouldn't load posts. Those who managed to access the app or website encountered the message: "Something went wrong, try reloading."
