The successful businessman and the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, publicly praised Argentine President Javier Milei and highlighted the strong slowdown of Argentine inflation since the start of the president's administration.
The mogul shared a post on his X account, accompanied by a brief message of support: “Bravo @JMilei!”.
The original post was made by the libertarian account Rothmus and compares the monthly inflation rate recorded in December 2023, after the exit of the Kirchnerism, with the latest data released by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec).

According to the post and official data, the monthly variation dropped from 25.5% in December 2023 to 1.7% in August 2026.
The message links this evolution to the fiscal policy implemented by Milei's government. “As expected when the government stops printing pesos to cover the deficit,” Rothmus stated, adding: “Fiscal surplus first, then prices stop rising”.
The account also questioned those who had labeled the austerity measures as a “theater of austerity” and pointed out that there are currently “33 months of Indec data” to explain the evolution of prices.
Milei, for his part, responded to Musk's support with another message on X. The President quoted the post and wrote: “BARRIAL PHENOMENON. Get out of the way, guys...CIAO!”.

The connection between Musk and Milei
The new public support adds to a relationship that the businessman and the Argentine president have maintained for several years, with in-person meetings and public exchanges through social media.
One of the most recent business contacts took place on September 7, when Milei met at the Casa Rosada with Tesla executives.
Representing the company were David Feinstein, Director of Finance, Global Trade, and Markets; Karen Steakley, Director of Public Policy and Business Development; Stephan Spazier, Head of New Markets; along with Francisco Mayorga and José Luis Martins.
The connection between the two has also had various chapters on social media. In January 2025, Musk shared a snippet of a speech by the Argentine president and wrote “I love Javier Milei”. Milei then responded: “Me too my friend”.

A month later, they were seen together again during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), where the Argentine president presented Musk with a chainsaw.
The businessman also expressed interest in developing commercial activities in Argentina. After meeting with Milei in 2024, he stated that his companies were “actively seeking ways to invest and support Argentina”.
The latest inflation data
Indec reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded an increase of 1.7% in August, while the accumulated inflation during the first eight months of 2026 reached 21.3% and the year-on-year variation reached 33.5%.
Based on this record, the Minister of Economy, Luis "Toto" Caputo, highlighted the result and stated: “August's inflation was the lowest in 14 months”.
The data was used by Musk to publicly support the Argentine government and highlight the significant decrease in inflation during Milei's era.
