The reasons why Emma Watson lost her registration in the United Kingdom
The decision was made by a British court after it was confirmed that he had accumulated several traffic violations
Emma Watson, the renowned 35-year-old British actress famous for her roles in Harry Potter and Beauty and the Beast, was sanctioned with a six-month driving ban in the United Kingdom. The decision was made on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, by the British court of High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court, after it was found that she had accumulated several traffic violations, the most recent being for speeding.

According to local media, the most recent incident occurred on July 31, 2024, in the city of Oxford, where Watson currently resides. There, she was caught by a traffic camera driving at 38 miles per hour (61 km/h) in an area with a maximum limit of 30 mph (48 km/h). The actress was driving an Audi S3 valued at about £30,000, which aggravated the situation as it is a high-end vehicle.
Although she did not appear in person at the five-minute court hearing, Emma Watson accepted responsibility for the violation through her legal representative. As a consequence, Judge Arvind Sharma ruled that in addition to temporarily losing her driver's license, she must pay a total fine of £1,044. The amount includes £660 for the speeding violation (with a discount for admission of guilt), £264 as a surcharge, and £120 for court costs.

The sanction was applied automatically, since the actress already had nine points accumulated for three violations recorded between October 2023 and January 2024. With the new offense, three more points were added, thus reaching the legal limit of 12 points required to keep her driver's license valid.
However, this was not the only recent incident related to her driving behavior. In February 2024, Watson's car was towed by the police after she had parked it improperly in front of the Rose and Crown pub in Stratford-upon-Avon. The vehicle was blocking the entrance to a private parking lot and, according to the newspaper The Mirror, left a restaurant manager trapped for more than three hours. The actress arrived just as the car was being towed, but she was unable to avoid the corresponding fine, which amounted to £192.
