This Monday, the bicameral commission in charge of proposing the new head of the Office for the Defense of the Rights of Children and Adolescents concluded a fast-track selection process with a resolution that caused strong controversy, for choosing an ultra-Kirchnerist activist and radical feminist to lead the agency.

With the support of Peronists, Kirchnerists, and Radicals, and with the unexpected collaboration of PRO deputies, the two-thirds majority required was achieved to submit a list that includes María Paz Bertero as the next Children's Ombudsperson, a position of high institutional sensitivity and with its own budget.

Additionally, Eduardo Robledo, a far-left communist and LGBT activist, was appointed as Deputy Ombudsperson. After being selected by the bicameral commission, they must now be voted on in the chamber, but the list is expected to be approved without issue.

Bertero is a lawyer who graduated from the National University of La Plata, with a specialization in "gender issues." In 2007, she began developing a legal column on a radio station in La Plata and established a close relationship with radical feminist activists.

In 2009, the next Children's Ombudsperson managed to consolidate her activism and biased worldview, maintaining a strongly leftist perspective within her professional practice. Additionally, while she supposedly wants to represent and "defend" them, Bertero openly supports abortion, that is, the murder of unborn children.

Meanwhile, Eduardo Robledo, deputy ombudsperson, is a far-left activist and pro-trans children, harshly criticized for his views regarding minors and their sexuality.

The Office for the Defense of Children

The Office for the Defense of the Rights of Children and Adolescents has the mission to safeguard, promote, supervise, and demand compliance with the rights of minors established in the National Constitution, the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, and other international treaties.

Its functions include receiving complaints or claims for violations of minors' rights, making recommendations, and participating in judicial processes involving children and adolescents. These powers grant it the ability to intervene in various important areas: courts, social policies, education, health, or family protection.

However, with Bertero at the helm and Robledo as deputy, there is a risk that the Office will act more as an ideological agency than as an institution of impartial guarantee.

Their strong far-left political orientation on issues such as abortion, gender ideology, radical feminism, and LGBT activism endangers the normal functioning of the agency and could turn it into a space for imposing ideological agendas that undermine the well-being of minors.
