Almost six years after the murder of Fernando Báez Sosa, which occurred in January 2020 outside the Le Brique nightclub in Villa Gesell, the case that shocked Argentina continues to generate repercussions.
Amid the recent release of the documentary Netflix 50 Seconds: The Case of Fernando Báez Sosa, one of the parents of those convicted broke the silence.
This is Marcos Pertossi, father of Lucas Pertossi, one of the young men from Zárate convicted of the murder.
La condena de los acusados
In an interview with the program Tarde o Temprano (eltrece), the man spoke for the first time in depth about how his son is living with the conviction and the emotional weight of the case inside prison.
"Lucas thinks about this every day. Every day," Pertossi stated, his voice breaking.
According to him, his son constantly remembers what happened that early morning when Fernando was attacked outside the nightclub, and he goes through a routine marked by guilt, anguish, and loneliness.
The man insisted that his son did not participate in the physical assault that ended the life of the young law student and emphasized that it was "a tragedy" that changed the lives of everyone involved.
"Lucas is not properly convicted. I'm certain that he's innocent. He did nothing, he didn't hit anyone. He has a calm spirit," he maintained.
He also recounted the story that, according to his version, his son told him about what happened that early morning of January 18: "A commotion broke out, he saw that a friend was being hit and went to separate them. It was an instant. But he ended up in the middle of something that was beyond him."
The desperate attempt to speak with Fernando Báez Sosa's parents
During the interview, Marcos Pertossi also revealed that he tried to contact Fernando Báez Sosa's parents, Graciela Sosa and Silvino Báez, although he never received a response.
"My wife and I made the attempt, we wrote to them on Instagram. We didn't speak with them at any time," he said.
Moved, he expressed that his wish is to be able to approach the Báez Sosa family someday to offer his condolences: "What happened to them is an atrocity. I want to offer my condolences, I want to hug them. I long for that. I think about it every night. I want to talk to them, I understand what happened to them, and Lucas does too," he stated with a tone of regret.
