In the legislative elections, prisoners showed a clear preference for Kirchnerism
In the recent legislative elections held on Sunday, October 26, prisoners across the country also participated in the electoral process, a right that is criticized and repudiated by society as a whole. Across the country, 86,400 inmates were eligible to vote in 317 facilities, including prisons, police stations, and juvenile institutions, using the Single Paper Ballot (BUP).
In this context, the elections reflected a distinct and expected political map within prison institutions, which differs significantly from the general electorate.
In the case of Ciudad de Buenos Aires, the results showed a clear inclination toward Peronism, with Fuerza Patria overwhelmingly leading the prison vote. According to official data, Fuerza Patria received 503 votes, representing 69.6% of the total in CABA. In a distant second place was La Libertad Avanza (LLA), with 92 votes (12.7%), followed by Ciudadanos Unidos with 79 votes (10.9%) and the Workers' Left Front (FIT) with 49 votes (6.8%).

The results in the capital consolidate a trend observed in other provinces, where the prison vote consistently leans toward Peronism, in contrast to general electoral patterns. In Mendoza, for example, the Peronist party also prevailed by a wide margin among inmates, reflecting a pattern repeated since previous elections.
Presos.
This trend is not new. In the 2023 presidential elections, Sergio Massa received 71.87% of the votes within prisons, while Javier Milei obtained only 15.49%. The prison vote tends to be more homogeneous, and the presence of Fuerza Patria as the dominant force confirms its roots in this sector of the population, which has historically shown a marked preference for Peronism.
This way, the prison vote in Argentina once again shows that the Kirchnerist front Fuerza Patria is the favorite political force within prisons, consolidating a historic trend and generating criticism regarding the representation of this sector in the electoral results.
