Donald Trump paid tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack in Minnesota
The Republican government of the United States issued a statement in which President Trump stated that he would sign a proclamation and order the flag to be flown at half-mast
President Donald Trump issued a presidential order for the United States flag to be flown at half-staff on all federal buildings, military installations, and the country's embassies as a sign of mourning for the victims of the tragic shooting that occurred this Wednesday in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The measure will remain in effect until sunset on August 31.
The shooting took place at the Annunciation Catholic Church, where a young man identified as Robin Westman, 23 years old, entered the temple while school activities were taking place and opened fire indiscriminately.
In the attack, three people died, including two children aged 8 and 10, who were sitting in the church pews. The striker subsequently took his own life at the scene. The tragedy has deeply shaken the local community and the entire country.
President Trump immediately spoke out through his Truth Social account, describing the attack as a "senseless act of violence" and announcing that the FBI was already at the scene investigating the events.

Trump called on citizens to join in prayer for the victims and their families. Later, he formalized his response through an official statement from the White House, in which he ordered the flags to be lowered to half-staff as a sign of respect.
"By the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, I order that the flag be flown at half-staff, as a sign of respect for the victims of the acts of violence perpetrated on August 27, 2025, in Minneapolis, Minnesota," the proclamation signed by the president reads.
The symbolic gesture was quickly carried out on the White House grounds, including the large flag recently installed in the front garden, which was also lowered.

The federal response to the shooting was immediate. Vice President JD Vance shared on social media that he was at the White House closely following the developments alongside the president and called for prayers for the victims. His statement came shortly before a scheduled meeting with Trump.
Meanwhile, Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed that federal agents were present at the crime scene and assured that the public would be kept informed as more details became available. Bondi expressed her condolences and solidarity with those affected.
FBI Director Kash Patel also confirmed the agency's active involvement in the investigation. Although the striker's motives have not yet been officially disclosed, the agency is working together with local authorities to clarify the events.
The White House pledged to continue monitoring the situation and to provide federal assistance to local authorities and affected families. For now, the nation enters a period of official mourning, as it tries to understand what happened and honors the memory of the innocent people who lost their lives in the attack.
