Fernando Espinoza lies again: there is a historical record of gendarmes in La Matanza

The mayor and his team are seeking to establish a false narrative about security in the district

In a new attempt to portray themselves as victims and divert attention from their failures in management, Kirchnerist mayor Fernando Espinoza and his team launched false accusations against the National Ministry of Security and the head of the department, Patricia Bullrich.

However, official data categorically refute each of their statements: La Matanza currently has the largest sustained deployment of the National Gendarmerie in its history.

Currently, 450 federal officers operate in the district, who, together with tactical vehicles and two-person motorcycles, focus their actions on critical areas such as Puerta de Hierro. The deployment includes patrols, checkpoints, surprise operations, and permanent presence, coordinated through the 90/10 Plan, which has already carried out more than 1,000 operations so far this year.

Thanks to this concrete action by the national government, at least a dozen drug bunkers have been dismantled in some of the most complex neighborhoods of the metropolitan area.

The numbers refute the political operation

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Strategic Planning of La Matanza, Miguel Saredi, claimed without evidence that "the Gendarmerie went from 600 to fewer than 200 officers", but official data show the opposite. In 2022 there were 437 agents; in 2023, 419; and in 2025, the figure rises to 450 active officers daily, not including periodic reinforcements.

It is even claimed that the Federal Police stopped operating on Route 3, another false statement: checkpoints continue and have been intensified at key points in the district, strengthening road safety and drug trafficking control.

The provincial government disappears, the Nation acts

Instead of assuming their constitutional responsibility regarding internal security, Governor Axel Kicillof and Mayor Espinoza attempt to blame the national government for the crimes occurring in the metropolitan area. Meanwhile, Patricia Bullrich does what they do not: make all possible resources available to protect residents.

Far from remaining silent, the minister did not hesitate to describe the Buenos Aires government's complaint against the 24 police officers removed from the force for supporting libertarian candidate Maximiliano Bondarenko as a "bogus accusation." Prosecutor Álvaro Garganta dismissed the conspiracy charges and reduced the case to a possible misuse of resources, another example of the political use of institutions by Kirchnerism.

"Reinstate them and stop messing around. The province needs security, police officers, and a lot of work. Enough of siding with criminals!" Bullrich posted on her social media, in a clear defense of police actions against the political apparatus that despises them.

A narrative that doesn't withstand the facts

The strategy of Espinoza, Saredi, and Kicillof is clear: invent a conflict with the Nation to cover up their own lack of control over security, their inaction in the face of the advance of drug trafficking, and the lack of territorial presence of the provincial police. But the numbers do not lie. For the first time, La Matanza has a real, sustained, and forceful presence of federal forces.

Minister Bullrich is fulfilling her duty: guaranteeing security for all Argentines, even in places where others have chosen to look the other way.
