Fiat is already working on the development of a new 100% electric urban vehicle that could become the successor to the Fiat Mobi in South America. The project is part of Stellantis' global strategy to face the growth of Chinese automakers in the compact and affordable car segment.
The future model will aim to compete against rivals such as the BYD Dolphin Mini and the Geely EX2, two electric vehicles that have gained ground thanks to their competitive prices and low operating costs.

What the new compact electric Fiat will be like
The project is internally known by the name “E-Car” and will have a central feature: it will be developed directly as a fully electric vehicle.
According to Brazilian media, the new model will be smaller than the current Fiat Panda and Citroën C3 in Europe. Additionally, it will adopt concepts inspired by traditional kei cars from Japan, designed to maximize interior space in reduced dimensions.
The future compact will also take references from the Hyundai Casper, a small urban SUV marketed in South Korea with a boxy design and functional focus.

What dimensions the electric successor of the Mobi would have
The new model would maintain a size close to the current Fiat Mobi, with approximately 3.6 meters in length.
However, thanks to an optimized architecture and a platform specific for electric vehicles, it would offer better interior livability and greater space utilization.
What dimensions would the electric successor of the Mobi have?
Fiat's intention would be to clearly differentiate it from the future regional replacement of the Fiat Argo and also from the European Panda.
Where the new electric Fiat car will be manufactured
The project, identified with the code F1X, would have initial production at the Italian plant in Pomigliano d’Arco. Nevertheless, Stellantis does not rule out expanding production to other markets, including South America, later on.
The strategy could also involve other brands in the group such as Peugeot and Citroën, which would develop derivative models based on the same platform.

Stellantis' strategy against the advance of Chinese brands
The global CEO of Stellantis, Antonio Filosa, explained that the idea is to recover the essence of European compact cars through vehicles with recognizable design, local production, and a focus on sustainability.
The offensive responds to the strong growth of Chinese manufacturers within the segment of affordable electric vehicles, a category that is gaining more weight globally.
Stellantis' strategy in response to the advance of Chinese brands
The main challenge for Stellantis will be to achieve competitive costs against brands like BYD and Geely, which currently lead a significant part of the urban electric car market.
